How often do you intentionally check in with yourself throughout the day? Do you monitor your inner and outer states regularly? Or do you only check in when overwhelmed with negativity?

Many of us feel overwhelmed these days. Like something looming over our heads, ready to crush us. I know because I get the calls almost every day.

So, right now in this moment, tune in. Feel your body, your emotional, and your mental state. Is your body tense? Where? Are you feeling flooded with cortisol – fight or flight?

What to do with Overwhelm

Mary Petschen* and I chatted about this very thing during an InstaGram Live. Watch the conversation here: What to do with Overwhelm

  1. Stay in the moment.
  2. Remember, YOU have the power to recognize what is happening.
  3. Relate to your body and exhale loudly.
  4. Breathe in deeply through your nose. Bring the air all the way down into your hips.
  5. Exhale again. Imagine the air moving back up through your stomach as you exhale – loudly!

By breathing down into your hips, you’re activating the rooting system in your body. Exhaling up through your stomach releases anything you can no longer stomach.

Each time the overwhelm returns, be kind to yourself. Repeat the steps above. The overwhelm is simply a call for awareness, care, and self-compassion.

Love all around, above, below, to the left and to the right, before you and behind you,

Georgena
