All the buried seeds
crack in the dark
the instant they surrender
to a process they can’t see.
~Mark Nepo

Each of us has been broken open by a loss like a seed to grow in consciousness.

The courage of the seed is undeniable.

I recently completed a call with a corporate engineer grieving their lack of skill to negotiate conflict in the workplace.

I asked them to check in and notice:

💧What their Grief is in this moment?
💧Is it Grief due to loss?
💧Is the loss really true?

This person felt there was something wrong with them because they did not bring harmony into the midst of chaos at work. I assured them it was really a matter of skill. That perhaps a course in conflict management would benefit them. Having taken training decades ago, I learned what was mine to do. To drive in my own lane.

Where do you feel this grief in your body?

Notice that place and begin to tune into the metaphors.

✨If it is your back, who or what is on your back?
✨What is your mind taking you back to?
✨Is that helpful?

It is when you learn something from the experience to move you forward. I do not recommend ruminating.

No. Please, check in and notice:

How’s your Grief in this moment?

Grief may be anywhere. It is in my office with clients. It is in the workplace too. That is why my colleague, Christine Green, and I have created Workplace ER.
