Grief comes in waves, like the ocean. We can feel like we are drowning when we fight against our feelings. Even the sensation of simply feeling our emotions in our body, as they move through, can feel like being covered up—unable to breathe.

It happened again this morning when my “Grief Shoulder” ached. My thoughts about my future “To Do” list for the entire month of September triggered the pain. Only when I returned to the present moment by breathing as Grateful Loving Presence did the pain simply move through and down my left arm.

My body had signaled me that the grief I felt with this business in this moment was only fear triggered by thoughts of overwhelm, fatigue and anxiety. How often do thoughts of loss trigger my Grief Shoulder? This month I will notice, and note those days and times.
